How immune am I from the effects of vicarious traumatization or adverse life experiences? Am I able to rebound from them in a healthy manner? Is there something I can do to boost my capacity to better adapt to them? This presentation will address these questions by reviewing what has been learned from four years of evidence-based research on a unique form of human resilience known as Psychology Body Armor ™ (PBA), as proposed by Dr. George Everly in 2017. It seems that one’s PBA is more about adaptability when experiencing adverse life experiences than previously thought. The presentation will also introduce a 20-item PBA assessment questionnaire and self-activity exercise that CISM responders and other trauma professionals can use to help gauge and build their overall resilience capacity.
