On April 15, 2021, at approximately 11:00pm EST, a 19-year-old former employee drove to the Indianapolis, Indiana FedEx Ground facility near the Indianapolis International Airport and proceeded to randomly shoot at employees in the parking lot and inside the facility’s main entrance. The incident took place during a shift change when hundreds of employees were leaving the building to go home, and more were parking in the nearby lot to begin work for the evening. The incident lasted four minutes. Ultimately, nine people were killed, seven additional people were injured, including four by gunfire. The shooter killed himself onsite. Learn how this terrible tragedy yielded unprecedented cooperation and strategic planning among a variety of crisis partners, including the Indiana State Resilience and Emotional Support Team, the American Red Cross, a K-9 support team, and local and state-wide CISM teams.
