In this dynamic and interactive presentation, John Hunt, a 27-year veteran of the New Jersey State Police and co-founder of Crisis Response Canines will share how Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM)- a comprehensive, integrative, multicomponent crisis intervention system and Animal Assisted Crisis Response (AACR) -the utilization of certified canine-and-handler teams assisting in crisis interventions to support the psychological and physiological needs of individuals affected by, and responding to, crises and disasters can be combined to synergistically ameliorate those impacts. The models of CISM and AACR will be reviewed and an examples of how a National AACR team has effectively responded to countless local and national incidents to provide support to first responders.
