In general, and especially since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, older adults are experiencing high levels of mental health concerns. This session will detail the steps taken and lessons learned from the development of a program to train community members to deliver psychological first aid (PFA) to older adults in Southeastern Missouri. Insights from this process can help attendees in scaling up psychological first aid or otherwise addressing psychological needs for older adults and/or rural populations. The session will accordingly include practical, programmatic insights from this initiative, for enhancing community mental health resiliency among vulnerable older populations in furtherance of health equity.
