It is generally accepted from local authorities to the White House itself that we are failing to meet the mental health needs of the US. As a result, novel approaches to meeting those needs must be employed. Paracounseling is one such approach. As we train paramedics to expand the provision of physical health services, should we not also train and certify paracounselors to expand the provision of mental health services? This presentation will provide a framework for doing so.
