practices practices into policies and front line work, and responding to traumatic events or disasters. While
serving as a Behavioral Rehabilitation Specialist foster care case manager working with high-risk youth
and autistic children, Nathan trained as a Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) practitioner and
regularly incorporates attachment-based teaching into his work. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Nathan
served on the front lines – first, with the Snohomish County Department of Emergency Management
(DEM) Isolation and Quarantine Site, then as part of the Snohomish County Fire Task force planning and
building two of the largest mass-vaccination sites in the state, and finally as Site Manager for one of those mass-vaccination sites, serving under DEM again. During the winter of 2021-2022, Nathan was recruited as Coordinator for a seasonal cold weather shelter and in two seasons has successfully combined his experience in disaster response, volunteer management, and trauma-informed practices
to create a program that is being used as a model for other cold weather shelters across the country.
