The best tools and processes are useless if they can't be implemented. This means the positive impact of the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) model cannot be realized without the establishment of organizational understanding and buy-in. Nowhere is this more evident than within the law enforcement and corrections cultures due their unique operational demands. This presentation highlights those challenges, offers an often-overlooked perspective of the CISM model, and provides tools to help agencies win by design instead of by default. This includes an introduction to the presenter's Strategic Orientation toward Achievement and Resiliency (S.O.A.R) planning approach designed to serve as a process for organizational CISM establishment and sustainment.
